Clinic Rules & Policies

Welcome to Therapy Dog Preparatory Clinic—a seminar offered by Therapy Dogs of Vermont! We are pleased to work with you and your dog! For the class to go smoothly and safely, please review and adhere to the policies below.

  • For the protection of all concerned, EVERY dog owner must provide proof of current vaccination from a veterinarian for rabies. Your dog must be free of all internal and external parasites and in good health. NO DOG WILL BE ADMITTED WITHOUT RABIES PAPERWORK.
  • Dogs must be healthy and free of contagious conditions.
  • Cancellation policy: If you cancel less than 14 calendar days prior to the clinic or do not appear at the clinic, your fee will NOT be refunded.
  • Keep your dog on leash at all times in and around the building.
  • Dress in casual, comfortable clothes and shoes.
  • Visitors/children may be permitted on a limited basis, upon request in advance.
  • Owners are responsible for any and all damage incurred by their dogs to other dogs, people, and/or property.
  • In case of inclement weather, or other emergencies, the instructor will notify each class participant if class needs to be cancelled—via e-mail and phone message.
  • The clinic does not grant the team any rights/permissions to make therapy dog visits or claim TDV membership or certification.
  • Participating in the clinic will not guarantee certification (and clinic participation does not satisfy the testing requirement). Candidates must still go through the entire testing and certification process, and submit all required forms and fees.
  • Photography/videography is not permitted.
  • Dogs must be kept on leash and be largely under control at all times (while it is understood that teams may be coming with a variety of obedience skill levels, owners should be able to hold onto their dogs and keep them from being disruptive at the class). The instructor reserves the right to dismiss any team at any time, without refund, if the team is overly disruptive to the class or places anyone in an unsafe situation.
  • Our purpose is not to work with aggressive dogs; the instructor reserves the right to dismiss any team at any time, without refund.
